Quest Port Breakthrough

A new method for culling is allowing for performance gains on Quest 2 and since they are applicable across the board they will be coming to the Oculus PC as well.

I chose an enclosed area that gets progressively full of more enemies rather than dungeon level to see if the Quest could keep up with all the action even with the overhead of recording. The encoding isn't great when recording from the Quest. It is very sharp in the headset.

B99 has gotten an engine upgrade to take advantage of all the new VR enhancements that newer versions of Unity make possible. Also a custom form of static batching for procedural content has been achieved and both the Rift PC and the Quest have gotten the upgrade.

Final Oculus Rift Patch

Spent the last 5 months creating a meticulously optimizing and bugfixing B99. Expect a 2x performance increase. This was thanks to the prep work for the Oculus Quest port.

B99 has been out of early access for a couple of weeks and the game is polished to a level that I am proud of. I have received requests over the years to port to SteamVR for a while and to Oculus Quest. I had already started porting it to Quest a couple of months ago. The game will need practically have to be written from scratch.

A note about weapons:
Some weapons like those with a slower firing rate excel in Overclock Mode. All enemies have strengths and weaknesses to each weapon. Examples: Sky Turrets take extra damage to piercing type weapons. UFO types confuse HomingShot's ability to track targets. DisruptorShot will destroy enemy projectiles making Hover Tanks less of a threat. Try all the weapons out and develop strategies.
